So I did this fun project for the grandparents this year for Christmas and it didn't cost me a cent. I already had all the supplies on hand and it was so easy!
I took profile shots of each of my kids. Getting them to sit still was a chore, so I had taped a piece of red fabric to the wall and told them to sit there and look at it. That made it a lot easier to get a shot. With Miles I had to have Bryleigh hold him and have Jeremy sit in front on him to get a good shot. :)

In Photoshop, I opened up the photos and used my Polygonal Lasso tool to cut around their profile. I filled in that shape with a light gray and then flipped the image. I then printed out all three on a piece of white cardstock. I used an exacto knife to cut out the profiles from the cardstock. Then when I turned them over, it was the white silhouette!

I had cut some extra wood that I had laying around and painted it black.

Then I used Mod Podge to paint on the back (the light gray side) of the profiles and attached them to the black piece of wood.

My last step was to use two coats of varnish over the whole thing. And it turned out perfect!! The grandparents loved them too!
