1 It's a New Year Froggy Friday!!

Happy New Year everyone!! I've decided to re-release my Project Memories kit from last year since I had some requests for it! Those rounded corner templates are the ones that I used for my P365 this year and it made it SO easy!! If any of you are thinking about jumping P365 bandwagon...just do it! Don't worry about if you miss a day or if you think your life is too boring...that's the fun in this project, to move you out of your comfort zone and journal about your year through photos!

Have a blessed New Year everyone!

3 A year in crafts

2009 was a year full of new craft projects, expanding my sewing skills and learning to refurbish and recover furniture. Since we were expecting a new baby, I also tried my hand at a lot of baby crafts. I'm sure there are many crafts that I forgot to photograph, but these were some of my favorites for this year...I hope to do many more and expand with new ideas for 2010!!

5 Custom Silhouettes of my kids :)

So I did this fun project for the grandparents this year for Christmas and it didn't cost me a cent. I already had all the supplies on hand and it was so easy!

I took profile shots of each of my kids. Getting them to sit still was a chore, so I had taped a piece of red fabric to the wall and told them to sit there and look at it. That made it a lot easier to get a shot. With Miles I had to have Bryleigh hold him and have Jeremy sit in front on him to get a good shot. :)

In Photoshop, I opened up the photos and used my Polygonal Lasso tool to cut around their profile. I filled in that shape with a light gray and then flipped the image. I then printed out all three on a piece of white cardstock. I used an exacto knife to cut out the profiles from the cardstock. Then when I turned them over, it was the white silhouette!

I had cut some extra wood that I had laying around and painted it black.

Then I used Mod Podge to paint on the back (the light gray side) of the profiles and attached them to the black piece of wood.

My last step was to use two coats of varnish over the whole thing. And it turned out perfect!! The grandparents loved them too!
