Thank you, thank you to all who voted for me last week!! I got the most percentage of votes I have ever gotten, so thank you all so much! My craft was the Monster Cloths, of course!!

This week's theme was really fun!! It was all about kids and having them help you on a project...I LOVED doing this project and so did Bryleigh! :) So go vote
HERE and keep me in for another week. My project for next week is one that I've been so excited about, help me make it on!! :)
Okay...so I have quite a few requests for how I make my boys' ties. Like this one:

and this one:

and this one on a onesie:
Elastic TieOkay, so they are super easy!! You need a fat quarter of fabric and about 14 or so inches of 1/4 or 1/2 inch elastic. Draw out your tie design on a piece of cardstock. I like to fold my cardstock in half so that I only have to draw half of the tie, and cut out both sides so they're equal. It should look something like this:

Next cut out along your line and open up along the fold. You should have a cute little tie now! Of course if you're making it for a little-r guy, you might want to make it a bit smaller. Next, take your tie pattern and pin it to your fabric. Remember you'll be cutting out 2 pieces, a back and a front. Cut out. Now to measure your elastic, I usually measure around his neck and add a couple inches if you'll be wearing it with a collared shirt. Make sure that this size elastic fits around their head too. I made that mistake once! :) I usually cut the elastic for my 3 year old's tie at about 13 1/2 inches. The one for my 8 month old is about 11 inches. Just to give you an idea.
Now to sew it together. Make sure your tie is wrong sides together. Find the middle of your elastic and mark it. Slip the elastic in between your two pieces of fabric. So it looks like fabric, elastic, fabric. Sew along the top first to secure the elastic in place, then sew around all the other edges of the tie. I always go around the tie twice because I kind of like the messy stitch look. Now remember, your tie will most likely fray because you aren't sewing the edges in together. That's how I like it, kinda frayed. It's cute! Once you're done sewing the tie, take your two edges of elastic and sew them togther using a zigzag stitch to keep them in place. And your tie is done!!
Tie on a Onesie
For this tie
you do the exact same thing except you only cut one piece of fabric instead of two...and you don't need the elastic either.
The really important part of this tie is that you pin it all over to the onesie because if you don't it will probably shift in your sewing and look all crooked. :)
So pin it really good and go around the tie twice. Another thing you'll want to remember is that if the baby is going to be wearing pants with it, you'll want to make it a shorter tie so that it doesn't look like he has his tie tucked in his pants. :)
I hope that's easy enough to understand, let me know if you have any questions and I'd love to see photos of your ties when you're done!! :)
Have a great day!!
