3 Crafting for Christmas :)

Every year for Christmas, I have great intentions of wanting to give everything handmade as gifts. Of course that doesn't ever happen, but I do end up creating some really fun gifts that my family and friends have loved! And now that the holidays are over, I can share them with you!!

As I was searching Etsy for stocking stuffer gift ideas I came across these amazing Star Trek wooden people. I don't like to admit it, but my hubby is a major trekky. He's mellowed out a bunch since we got married because I hate Star Trek. But I thought it would be nice to make these for him and they turned out to be one of the favorite gifts I made for my family! And of course, he LOVED them!

My sister Ashley made the cutest little owl hat for her daughter for Halloween and I immediately knew I wanted to make some for my kids. My friend Tiff hooked me up by making the hats for me (my goal for 2011 is to learn how to crochet!!) and I added the felt. Didn't they turn out adorable??

For a few of my friends this year I made them Chocolate Sugar Hand Scrub. What's that you say? Amazing....let me tell you, it makes your hands SO soft and it smells so good that you want to eat it! I got the recipe HERE.

My sisters and I exchange names for Christmas and this year we had my sister Ashley and her family. I love that she loves modern decor like I do, so I knew exactly what I wanted to make for them. They just moved into a new apartment and I knew this would be perfect for them! I begged Ray to buy me a jigsaw and this is what I came up with...I love how it turned out! It's got a little frame hook on the back to hang it up on the wall. :)

My most time consuming project this year has definitely been the recipe books I made for all of my sisters, parents and myself! :) I have be working on these since about May. Everytime we'd have one of our favorite recipes, I would take a picture of it and create a recipe card. I had over 80 recipes in the book and I love how it turned out. I even want to share the template for the cards with you...so here you go....DOWNLOAD HERE.

This is a project I just finished today. My goal wasn't to get it done by Christmas, but to get it done by the time Bryleigh goes back to school. A couple of months ago she brought home a paper saying they could buy school t-shirts or sweatshirts. I knew that if I got Bryleigh a t-shirt, she would never wear it. But I knew that if I made it into a dress, she'd wear it forever. So I bought a t-shirt a couple of sizes too big and today I sat down with my other fun knit and put this together. I used the Sienna pattern by Lil Blue Boo...but modified it quite a bit, especially in the sleeves and collar. I used the main body of the school t-shirt, the collar, the sleeves and the bottom hem. I added some fun houndstooth, gray long sleeves and a fun stripe at the bottom. It turned out exactly how I wanted it to and I can't wait for her to wear it on her first day back to school! :)

I've still got a couple of more crafts coming...just have to finish them (we have our family party still coming up this weekend) and take pictures! :)
