1 kitchen redo

I just recently repainted my living room/kitchen area. We have an open floor plan so when I paint one room, I have to paint the other and all the hallways too! :) We moved into our home about 2 1/2 years ago and painted the walls a dark tan-ish color, with a chocolate accent wall and a dark red corner pantry wall 2 years ago. I didn't like it as soon as I painted. But to please my hubby and not stress him out about having to paint 90% of our house again, I held off...that is until last week. I finally decided to just do it and went and bought 4 gallons of Silver Drop paint at Home Depot. I came home and got to work painting the kitchen first, the hallway and bar another day and finished up just a couple of days ago painting the living room.

Now, I have slowly been switching all of my decorations over from the more country/traditional to more modern design. I love the look of stainless steel with wood...so that's what I was going for here too. Here's the wall (that used to be the chocolate accent wall) with all my art work. These owl portraits are from my favorite illustrator (again!), Katie Moon. I've been collecting owls for a year or so now and when I saw that she was illustrating an owl a day for a week, I knew that it was going to inspire the new colors in my kitchen/living room! I was a little hesitant to see how my hubby would react to the pink, but he loves it and I love it! :) Letter M's and gray owl came from Urban Outfitters, teal owl from my sister Ashley's Etsy shop, and date blocks and wicker owl from Real Deals.

I love my kitchen table and benches too! :) We got this table from a friend...I always wanted a square table and I like how it fits better than our long one we used to have!


Here's a view looking into the kitchen. I added all the stainless steel hardware (found at Target 50% off!!) to the cabinets and love that it adds the perfect little touch!


I'm still working on getting the living room together...I'll blog about it as soon as it's done!
