4 more thoughts on project life

Alrighty, so I've had quite a few friends and family ask me about Project Life. Mostly how I do it and what works for me, so I thought I'd share my process and favorite products!

Project Life is an amazing concept that Becky Higgins came up with. Basically it's a really fun, and EASY way to journal/scrapbook. You need a 12x12 album, pocket sheet protectors for the year, and either a kit (put out by Becky Higgins) or your own collection of journal cards.

Here's what I use:

I buy two of these each year, and the two albums get me through the whole year. My first album was January-June and my second album July-December. I probably could have tried to stuff them all in one, but I didn't want it to be too bulky. I like this album because it's modern, simple and cheap! :)

These are the most widely used pocket pages I use. They come in a pack of 12 for $6.99...but I actually bought a package of like 60 for $29.99, but she's out of stock on those right now. This design includes 4 4x6 photo slots and 4 3x4 photo slots. I love the versatility of having the two different sizes. There are many other photo pocket page designs. I have also used Design C and Design D. It all just depends on if you want a uniform design or a mix and match. You can also add in other sizes...I have sometimes used a 6x12 design, 8x8 design (for my scrapbooking layouts) and 6x12 with 3 4x6 slots as special inserts if I have extra pictures in a certain week.

Basically you choose a kit (or two!) and you start! Each kit has enough cards in it for the whole year long. It has cards for journaling, cards you can add photos to and cards that are just designs. There are 8 core kits available right now and 5 more that will be available in the next month or so. I also heard that they will be releasing a bunch of other kit designs in a few weeks at CHA. I can't wait to see those! I used the Clementine kit this last year and I plan on using Olive and Seafoam (in digital format) for 2013. Both Olive and Seafoam will be released on Amazon next month.

I found after a few weeks of creating my Project Life this year that I enjoyed creating it digitally, but still printed it all out to go in my binder. I guess I'm a hybrid Project-Lifer. :) So I use the digital editions of the cards, plus other digital cards that I've either created or picked up from my other fellow scrapbooking designers.

Then I create my cards in Photoshop, focusing on each week at a time. When I'm finished with one week, I print them all out and put them in my binder. I have found that printing at home has been more economical for me. I print all my cards on HP Everyday Photo Paper Matte and print it as a full 8.5x11 sheet and cut them out individually.

Here's a list of designers I love that create project life cards:

There are also a lot of freebies out there, here's just a few of my favorites:

Quote Cards by Elise Blaha Cripe

Chevron Cards by FindingNana

Live Free Cards by Miss Tiina

Facebook Cards by Wild Blueberry Ink

Here are some of my favorite fellow Project-Lifer's to give you some inspiration!

And to close, here's a link to all of my pages! :)

As always, if you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them the best I can!! If you're planning on doing Project Life in 2013, I'd love to see your pages...I always love inspiration! :)

Ok I picked out my kit and page protectors! (They are sitting in my Amazon cart to be bought tomorrow! haha) I have a couple of albums that are 12 x 12 that people gave me at my wedding that are empty so I guess I'll start with those. I am seriously so excited to start! Thank goodness for 2 day shipping! And thanks for sharing the details with me!

Thanks for telling us what kind of paper you use, but what kind of printer do you have?

I'm so thankful that you share your Project Life pages! I've thought throughout the year that they looked really cool but I didn't really understand what they were. During last year I started to think a lot about how to record my daughter's life- I have not delved into traditional scrapbooking because I don't think I would spend the time to create intricate pages. I decided to read more about what you are doing and got so excited because I think this is the perfect solution for me! I just finished my first page and am really looking forward to recording the rest of this year. THANK YOU so much!! PS- I love your creativity- you have such a fun style to everything you do.
